Wingnuts Feverish Over Osama's Death Rumor

LGF has it, so does Hot Air's Allahpundit, Volokh Conspiracy and Power Line.
Dean has two posts, so does Wiz Bang. Michelle Malkin quickly ran with the rumor along with Blogs for Bush as soon as InstaLinker alerted the alternate winger media. Protein Wisdom accurately predicts that the timing will be questioned.
To be fair, Josh Marshall beat them all to the punch, right after Metafilter announced that UBL may have been dead for a month now.
They all posted on the rumor, and that's all it is. But not one of the blogs I just listed by name, none of the prominent right wing blogers, not even Josh (one of my heros) -- only Metafilter even mentions the real NEWS, the fact that the official consensus of the 16 US intelligence agencies have concluded in the first National Intelligence Estimate since the toppling of Saddam Hussein that the Iraq War has made the threat from terrorism worse.
If you think you're well informed, but your only reading things on Captain Ed's blogroll, you're not getting news. Your only getting rumors and propaganda.

Between now and the election, there will be two news-streams out there.
One will be the real news: disaster in Iraq, Constitutional law-breaking in Congress, collapse of the housing market, stagnant jobs growth, etc.
The second news-stream will be diversionary: Osama dead, Chavez a buffoon, Ahmadinejad a punk, Democrats will raise your taxes, etc.
The first news-stream confirms how bad this Congress and president have been; the second news-stream declares that the "other guys" are far worse.

Of course the second "news-stream” isn't news at all but mendacious political propaganda. And another great test of the seriousness and intelligence of the American electorate. Why am I not encouraged?
