Sampson Sings: Gonzalez, Miers OK'd Firings
Is it just me or has the WH just cut Gonzalez loose?
Attorney General Alberto Gonzales was briefed regularly over two years on the firings of federal prosecutors, his former top aide said Thursday, disputing Gonzales' claims he was aware of the dismissals from afar and newly undercutting his already shaky credibility.Gosh, how many different ways can you say it? In other words, Gonzalez lied.
Gonzales and former White House counsel Harriet Miers made the final decision on whether to fire the U.S. attorneys last year, said Kyle Sampson, the attorney general's former chief of staff. But, oddly, no mention of the great white whale, Rove.
"I don't think the attorney general's statement that he was not involved in any discussions of U.S. attorney removals was accurate," Sampson told a Senate Judiciary Committee inquiry into whether the dismissals were politically motivated. There you go again. Just say it: Gonzalez lied.
Seems that the WH strategy here is to isolate Gonzalez (and now Miers?) to protect Rove, as in the Libby story.

I know that these f*ckers are too arrogant and stupid to do a “plan B” but what’s the end game here? What happens when the puppets are all gone? There are, thank God, a finite number of these College Republicans, Robertson cum loonies and Bush sycophants with law degrees.
Nice up side though: if Bush keeps throwing them under the bus, no one will be left to prosecute except Bush and Rove (please, Dick, don’t resign.
