Lessons from a Larger-than-Life President

Karl Rove wants us to know that he loves Teddy Roosevelt. He even tells us the lessons that we should learn from the 26th President.

Yeah, whatever.

Bruce Reed ain't buyin it:

Rove tries hard to portray TR with the official White House talking points about Bush: character, leadership, animated by big ideas, "makes ardent friends and bitter enemies."

But as even Rove must realize, that moose won't hunt. Roosevelt is consequential for all the reasons Bush is not: Unlike the current president, TR stood up for the common man, took on established interests, and showed a boundless energy for solving the nation's problems.

And Roosevelt didn't trash the Constitution in his drive to seize absolute power.

And Teddy Roosevelt could actually, you know, ride a horse. I mean think about it: Did you EVER see Bush, the famous Texas cowboy, on a horse? Ever?
