Russ Feingold: Patriot; John Cornyn: Wanker
“None of your civil liberties matter much after you’re dead,” said Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas), a former judge and close ally of the president who sits on the Judiciary Committee.“Give me liberty or give me death,” said Sen. Russ Feingold (D-Wis.), who has led a bipartisan filibuster against a reauthorization of the Patriot Act.

OMG! What a profile in courage! All for a bunch of stateless, ragtag lunatics with 99-cent boxcutters. What a bunch of feckless pussies our Republican “defenders” are.
Our Founding Fathers must be spinning like dreidels.

To which the obvious retort is, it doesn't mean much to be alive if you have no civil liberties.
I still vote across party lines but at the national level many of these Republican apoligists for law-breaking - be it torture, revealing CIA indentities or domestic spying (and the layers of lies) are making me feel quite ill.
